This Old Door (20)
Restoration of this 95 year old door was two years in the making and took about 30 days once started. I saved everything except the three vertical panels that were replaced and the new wooden handle. The hinges and pulls are solid nickle, possibly cast in Europe. The lock set was cast from steel and bronze. Except for some minor wear, all of the hardware still operates perfectly. This door was designed to last for as long as it is maintained. It has touched many lives and will touch many more. -
Talismen (13)
These carvings were completed between 1999 and 2001. They are made of deadfall from English Sycamore trees that grow all over Brooklyn, New York. Sycamore trees are an ancient species and have often inspired people. They are extremely hearty trees, well suited to urban environments and have a distinctive bark that is multicolored and sheds from the tree regularly. The wood is hard and close grained and has a refined and delicate lace like quality to it. -
